Welcome to Yang Yoga - Space and Movement
Yang is movement - Yin is stillness. So in Yang yoga we move! You may recognise some of the postures or shapes we create in practice from Hatha yoga? Yang yoga is a complimentary blend of Hatha Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
~ Yang Yoga targets the softer tissues in the body; blood, muscles, the Bladder, Gallbladder, Small Intestine, Large Intestine and Stomach.
~ It is rhythm and repetition.
~ Yang Yoga activates Qi flow with movement. Creating postures which stimulate soft body tissue, stretching, contracting, twisting, bending, folding, compressing.

~ The secret to vitality is through clearing channels to allow Qi to flow. In practice we can imagine Qi flowing through the channels that we open through the shapes we make. The Qi Highways!
~ Yang Yoga creates space, activates the production of collagen, collagen conducts Qi.

~ Yang Yoga builds and strengthens muscle, which in turn takes the pressure off the joints, like the knees, the hips, femur sockets.
~ During Yang Yoga practice we spend more time with the different postures. This enables us to look deeper into the shape and ourselves.
~ Yang Yoga enables greater range of motion and makes the muscles stronger.
~ Yang Yoga isn't the same as Qi gong, but we use many of the Qi gong practices in Yang Yoga class practice.
~ I encourage the use of props, such as yoga blocks, yoga pads, yoga straps, bolsters or rolled up towels to enable ease and reduce stress. The postures are shapes provided as a guide, working with your own mobility is how we create space for Qi to flow.
